First of I’m not convinced of the number the Nation of Islam is giving us. According to them the Washington Mass Transit association has reported passengers of over 800,000 so that must mean every single man jack of them went to the rally. Right. If anyone provides us with an actual number that is below 1 million there will be hell to pay. So what do we have? Not a lot I’m afraid. If you saw any of the Cindy Sheehan rally last month you didn’t miss anything. The topic was as you probably expected, how the government is destroying the black race. We the white people are responsible for pretty much everything bad in black America. Speaker after speaker got up and screamed about the injustices, and quite frankly too me most people seemed bored. They all came to hear good old Louie Farrakahn spew his lies and hatred. So every twenty or minute or so someone would announce that Mr. Farrakahn is about to come out. This would wake every one up for a bit. I would have thought that after six hours of this they would have realized that Louie would not be coming out until the end. I think the best way to describe my thoughts is to tell you what wasn’t prevalent at the rally. Accountability. I may take some heat here but “Oh Well” What I didn’t see is anyone saying “shame on you”. Those of you who could have gotten themselves out of the path of Hurricane Katrina but decided to wait for the government to come get you…shame on you! For those young mothers who have four children with three different fathers…Shame on you! For those of you who have relegated themselves to being wards of the state because collecting welfare is much easier then working…Shame on you! For those in the Hip Hop industry who write lyrics that exploit women and glorify violence…Shame on you! Gang members who cause most of the black on black killings in this country…Shame on you! These are the things that are destroying black America, not an administration that has given 368 billion dollars to programs aimed at helping those who cannot help themselves.. And when you, Louis Farrakhan come out speak what dos you say? Sue the government. Sue FEMA. Sue Homeland security for criminal negligence. Your mayor Mr. Farrakahn, a black mayor did nothing to help those who were helpless and those who could apparently decided to wait for Uncle same once again, and you want the government to once again give you money. That is the easy way out. Hold out your hand. That is why so many blacks are poor.ENTITLEMENT=COMPLACENCY=POVERTY-that should have been the theme for this rally. But no! it was Bush this, and Bush that and yes Halliburton was mentioned several times. Somehow, someway these twisted people believe that this nations discriminatory past his to blame for all your current ills. And because of this you say “we want what’s do to us?” It’s been there all along. If you want to ensure the future education is the answer and it has been handed to you on a silver platter. If you are a minority in this country your education is as good as paid. I know it, I’ve seen it during my years in college. Where I paid for a tuition to a big private university minorities had a free ride. The opportunities are there and education is the biggest however you put forth a dictum that because hundreds of years ago you were slaves we whites should all be writing checks for you. Wrong! A check will not give you knowledge, or a sense of self worth. Nor will give you the hunger to strive for a better life for yourself and your children. Yet you still hold out you hand and say “where’s mine” Some of these speakers tried to lend political credence to their cause by championing Chavez, and Castro, and believe it or not Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe. Chavez and Castro have been covered elsewhere but Mugabe? This one speaker, I do not know who she is because I was in the other room was calling for the end to sanctions against Zimbabwe that were put into effect because Mugabe was taking land from white owners and giving it to blacks. She said the land belonged to blacks anyway. This person was characterizing Mugabe as a hero. What about the thousands of natives He has killed to remain President of Zimbabwe. He rigs the elections and his economy is in the toilet because he is corrupt. Thousands of blacks in Zimbabwe die very year because of violence or starvation and she blames the Bush administration? The poor sods who attended this rally left a little less intelligent than when they came in! These “leaders” had a chance to educate those in attendance but played the same old tune. So nothing will change and it will remain the fault of us white people who want nothing more than to see our African American brothers and sisters advance. -Bert HOME BLOG ARCHIVE |
