| The “Secure Borders, Economic Opportunity and
Immigration Reform Act of 2007”. I have found more interesting reading in
my medicine cabinet. How are you supposed to convince the people of the
United States that this is a good bill when they fall asleep halfway
through the title? They wouldn't have this problem if the bill was not so
big or "comprehensive" as they say in Washington. Why not start with a Secure Borders bill? They had language in this monstrosity for securing the border which tells me they had no intention of enforcing the Secure Border legislation they passed last year. I've read the bill. It does not tell us HOW they will secure the border. Last years bill called for 700 miles of fencing. So far we have two.... Let's be honest here folks these clowns in Congress could not organize a pissup in a brewery. How are we supposed to expect them to reverse 40 years of Ted Kennedy immigration "reform" in one bit of legislation that is supposedly so brilliant, so revolutionary, so blindingly effective that they wrote it in secret, under a bed with the lights out with the door shut, locked and a sign on the outside reading "Beware of the Leopard"? They planned to quietly pass it in a rushed vote by passing all the usual legislative procedures. Economic opportunity. For who? Illegal Aliens? We need to pass legislation that promises economic opportunity for non Americans who have broken the law? I know one thing is for sure. This is the one bit of legislation that will be enforced because it favors everyone except those of us who were born here or came here legally. The biggest misnomer of this abortion is the part that says immigration "reform". There is no reform. It is amnesty. It takes the illegality out of crossing the border in a van with 56 other desperate people. Teddy Kennedy said as much on the Senate floor. In fact he said just that. "This bill takes the illegality out of there actions". If you look closely at the bill, or even randomly glance at it you see a huge gap where the bit about enforcement should be. These people are supposed to pay a five thousand dollar fine. Why would they come out from the shadows as the Kennedy puts it just to pay a fine? As it stands now they are illegal yet the get welfare, medical services. They even get in-state tuition and mortgages. The only difference between now and when this bill would become law is $5000 dollars.... Why should they jump through hoops? How can we track them down then when we can't track them down now? And as long as they are illegal they will have the bleeding heart liberals using themselves as human shields to protect them. As long as they are illegal they cannot be prosecuted for anything. Makes sense right? Moving right along we see another huge gap. How are we going to afford this? most of these people have little or no education. They make little money. Teddy Kennedy may be able to make them legal overnight but he can't raise their standard of living. So We will have a secondary welfare class. Oh goody. Let's face it, The only difference between where the immigrants live in ten years and where they lived in Mexico is the water is drinkable. You know a bill is bad when Democrats are accusing each other of being hypocritical. Barbara Boxer asked in disbelief how Teddy could have written such a bill that allows all these guest workers...even sober. Kennedy fired back that Boxer supports Guest workers in California and then asked for a gin and tonic. Pretty pathetic really. In a way this bill is an extension of the liberal philosophy. They want to take your money and spread it around so everyone is quite unhappily poor. Now they want to invite as many immigrants into the country every year so they are all as equally poor here as they were in their own country. Except with better television reception. -Bert |
