The Fort Dix six or the six dix as I
call them have helped the Giuliani campaign by taking the spotlight off
abortion and putting it back on the GOP's "A" game strategy. National
Security. True, Rudy bungled the abortion question. Let's be honest here,
when every candidate down the line says it would be great to have
Roe V Wade repealed you cannot shrug your shoulders and say "It would be
okay" He wasn't asked if he wanted peppers on his sub. He was asked about
the second most divisive issue in our time. (Second only to whether or not
Nancy Pelosi needs a 747).
In that debate Romney shined. Great
answers, great enthusiasm, great hair. But Rudy is the war guy. He always
will be and we know why. The American public just feel he will not allow
another 9/11 to happen. And god forbid it does he will track down those
responsible and extract justice from their nether regions. He's a tough
talking New Yorker who like Bush does not speak well but Rudy's problem is
he needs time to articulate his point. 30 second spots don't work for him.
If you ask him the time he will tell you how to build a watch.
All
that no longer matters because the real issues is now in the front of our
minds again thanks to the Six Dix. Remember that Osama Bin Laden tape that
appeared weeks before the 2004 elections? Bush got a huge bump because
John Kerry was perceived as weak on. Well just about everything. But most
importantly on security.
Rudy owns the National Security platform.
All he needs to do now is talk tough on securing the borders and
immigration. He could lock up the nomination.
