TIME TO BUY THE MEDIA DICTIONARY

....A big shiny one. Perhaps Red. Unabridged, bridged maybe tunneled. And one that has the built in bookmark. I like those. Because you can walk around with it cradled in your arms with the bookmark dangling down and it makes you look real clever...
regardless of what type we buy the media it has to have two words in them. Overtopped and Breached. These two words, as unexciting as they are seem to hold the key to whether or not something will stick to George Bush.
As it stands now, not only has George Bush been given credit for creating the Hurricane he has been credited with not responding fast enough, not responding fast enough to blacks only, Blowing up the levees and now President Bush has apparently been caught in a lie. In a taped video conference with Michael Brown, and Max Mayfield the head of the National hurricane center Bush is seen being briefed on the potential devastation. What is really interesting is that the media has had this tape since it was recorded and yet they have not released it until now. My only answer is that if they broadcast the tape in the weeks after the storm it would debunk their own accusations that Bush was ill informed and on vacation. Anyway back to the tape. Max Mayfields briefing of the president is where the media is spinning the story to make Bush look like he lied to cover his backside.

President Bush (speaking to ABC news): I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees.

Voiceover: A seemingly direct contradiction to what is said at the briefing.

Max Mayfield (director, National Hurricane Center): I don't think anyone can tell you with any confidence right now whether the levees will be topped.

Now the left is claiming that when George Bush said "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees." He lied because he was briefed that the levees may be overtopped. In fact Max Mayfield said "I don't think anyone can tell you with any confidence right now whether the levees will be topped." So in essence Bush was not told the levees would breach let alone spill over. The Media has a problem with the words 'overtopped' and 'breached'. The problem is that they mean two different things.
So where is the lie? There is a huge difference between the levees not containing all the water and the levee's actually collapsing. So in a pretty lame attempt to pin this on Bush they jettisoned the tamer 'overtopped' for the for the more emotional sounding 'breached' and the usual suspects chimed in.

Keith Overbite...
The tapes revealing that Mister Bush and his Homeland Security Secretary were warned in no uncertain terms, before Katrina hit shore, that the storm could breach levees...

Boston Globe...
Bush declared four days after the storm, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees" that gushed deadly flood waters into New Orleans. But the transcripts and video show there was plenty of talk about that possibility -- and Bush was worried, too

We have the results from two congressional reports that lay blame on all facets of government and yes that includes the Bush Administration. Nowhere does it say Bush lied. Nowhere does it say Michael Brown was ill informed. It also does not say George Bush was simply on vacation when the storm hit. All myths created by the Desperate liberals. Bush's biggest mistake was to appoint Michael Brown. He had no idea Brown would wilt. Nor could he anticipate Ray Nagin would order mandatory evacuations 24 hours before the storm. He also could not have expected the majority of the people to sit back and wait to be rescued.
Bush could also not have expected the left to blame all the deaths on him...
