CONSERVATISM
It seems to me that every Conservative I talk to thinks that on Thursday the Democratic party got it’s wish. To see Tom Delay booked. I have been saying for weeks that justice was never their aim. Bringing in a criminal or fighting corruption never entered into the plan. Just topple Tom Delay. It worked. And whether he goes to prison or not they do not care. His influence has been diminished. The Republican party shot itself in the foot when it changed Senate rules to where anyone under investigation has to step down temporarily or permanently if they are convicted.. So now the door is open for investigations into virtually every Republican. If they cannot defeat an opponent at the ballot box then they have him removed from office. Some of the most influential republicans are now under investigation for possible criminal acts. Karl Rove who may just be the most influential person in the administration has be hammered for months on this CIA leak. We are not even sure that an actual crime has been committed not to mention if Rove was involved. Now this past week Dick Cheney’s name has come up in the investigation. The left wants to topple Bush and has tried many times. First they tried to use the law to give the presidency to Al Gore. That did not work. So then they tried to impeach him for lying about the war in Iraq. That did not work. Now it’s Hurricane Katrina..oh wait that failed as well so no impeachment there. Well if they can’t get Bush they will go after Rove. Meanwhile Tom Delay who was instrumental in the Right retaking the Senate a few years back has been railroaded by Democratic hack. The left wanted blood and they could not get it any way but to find some left wing nut job who is as corrupt as they charge Delay to be. As it turns out the law that Delay is accused of breaking was not a law at the time. It did not matter. An Indictment was brought forth and he had to step down.. Ronnie Earle rushes to another Grand Jury with new charges and the fishing expedition continues. Bill Frist is the next victim. He has stock in his families corporation. That is not illegal. He sold stock as he was advised to do if he plans to run for the Presidency. That is not illegal. The money he received from the stock sale was used to pay off a loan his campaign fund took out when he last ran for office. That is not illegal he can pay off the loan anyway he wants. Where exactly is the problem? Well many Democrats are saying that he lied about how much stock he owned and that there was a conflict of interest because The family business he owned stock in is health care related and he was involved in drafting health care legislation. He also has been accused of insider trading. After the sale of the stock it fell 9 percent. Now I do some investing. You are not going to risk prison for a 9 point drop. Frist is a millionaire 9 points will mean nothing to him. The whole idea is silly. Not to mention Liberals were complaining about him owning the stock. So he sells it then they turn around and question why he sold it! As I mentioned earlier the Republicans stiffened their ethics laws. You would think that our Democratic counterparts would do the same. Well as it stands now if they did…John Corzine (D-NJ)-out. Dick Durbin (D-MICH)-out. Chuck Schumer (D-NY)-out. Nazi Pelosi (D-CA)-gone. Harry Ried (D-NEV)-Gone. And that is just off the top of my head.. They are trying to make conservatism illegal. But all is not lost. If Delay, and Rove are vindicated as I am confident they will be that will destroy the left. They will be exposed for what they are. Texas District Attorney Ronnie Earle is the Democrats biggest weapon right now will turn out to be the Democrats biggest handicap. -Bert |
