Well I wrote this sort of thing once before. During
what I call the "Quite a lot of persons" march. I guess it needs to be
updated. We had the State of the Black America symposium Saturday. A sort
of symposium on black empowerment. That would be a good thing. It was to
be about black Americans formulating their own plan for social, and
economic advancement. It was just like Corretta Scott King's funeral was
going to be Just a funeral. It didn't happen. We had the usual Bush
Bashing, and the Federal government being portrayed as tyrants that are
keeping the black man from achieving Social advancement. What I find
Ironic is that those who cheer the words of Farrakhan and Sharpton who
accuse this administration of conspiring against them continue to depend
on them. If you charge the government is letting you down or plotting your
down fall then why would you expect them to take care of you during a
hurricane? The conference for all of it's firebrand speakers lacked the
one thing the black population in this country need more than anything
else. Accountability. Instead of charging that America needs to burn
Farrakhan could have addressed the percentage of black babies born out of
wedlock. Instead of promising to push America into hell Farrakhan could
have addressed the hip hop community and their portrayal of black women as
hoes and bitches. Harry Bellefonte could have laid scorn on rappers who
glorify gang violence that has lead to so much black on black violence. He
chose however to explain why Bush is a tyrant. Why is it that those who
have achieved so much without the help of the NAACP, The black caucus, The
nation of Islam, The Rainbow/Push Coalition were not invited? And those
were indeed not invited, The Bill Cosby's the Clarence Thomas's, and the
Neil Innis's are looked upon as evil. There is a disproportionate numbers
of blacks to whites in politics. Not one conservative will tell you
otherwise. That is also why you will here us congratulate the Barrack
Obama's when they are elected. However why does the Black community
lambaste Michael Steele and Lynn Swan? The social and economic issues of
Black America transcend any political affiliation. So having people of
your ethnicity in positions to uplift you should be considered a positive.
Not in today’s black world. Condoleezza Rice, The most powerful person of
color on the planet is scorned by the modern African American Liberal.
Colin Powel? A tyrant. Yet Snoop Dog can run the country calling women
hoes, smoking pot, glorifying violence and yelling the word Nigga all over
the place and not a peep from Jesse Jackson and company. Bill Cosby
whom I have held a deep respect for, for years is probably the most hated
Black man in America. Why? Because he holds a mirror up to the "poor and
afflicted" black man asks "What the hell are you doing?" This
symposium did produce one relevant fact. "Blacks spend more per capita
than whites for food, entertainment and clothing. The survey said blacks
spend about $22 billion of their income on products and services and
almost $29 billion on cars." They then of course throw
themselves into how Bush does not provide for those in "poverty". Do the
math. See how much President Bush has spent on social programs and then
factor in how many take advantage of these programs and then factor in the
cars, and jewelry, and the Snoop dog albums and what do you have? You have
people waiting for the government to rescue them from a nasty storm. Not
Georges fault. The saddest part of all this is that these hatemonger
who abuse the president for the current state of African Americans are
simply pandering to the poor. The poor with the big screen, and the poor
with the fancy leather jacket, and the poor with the snoop Dog box set.
What has Farrakhan and company actually provided for their brothers and
sisters? Aside from hatred I mean. After Bellefonte finished his diatribe
on how our government is keeping the black man down he returned to his
multi million dollar apartment in New York. If you ask me those in
attendance would have been better off working, or spending time with their
kids.
