A FEW WORDS ON SARAH PALIN 12/02/2008 It has become obvious that Sarah Palin is not going to fade into obscurity. It has also become obvious that the Republican party understands how to use Sarah Palin and understands what she represents. They may not like it but they see what she is all about. 37 minutes after McCain conceded the election Palin was thrust into front runner status for the 2012 election. Sounds good on paper and from what we have seen, and heard of her combined ith the liberal rage and hysteria she does seem to be the perfect storm. However one question remains unanswered and it has nothing to do with he intellect, her children of her hair. Will she court the center? This has to be a concern simply for the fact McCain was attracted to her. When his more centrist issues came up, like the bailout for example Palin deftly skirted having to directly say she supported the measure. Now we know where she stands on Abortion. The religious demographic will be happy. We have seen enough photos of her brandishing large weaponry to know anyone who supports the 2nd Amendment will be on board the Palin Plane to the White House. Gay Marriage and family values aren’t a problem. She understands the need for strong pre emptive defense policy. The base should be satisfied. But…. These bailouts may have failed to stop a recession but they have succeeded in awakening most of the country to the irresponsible spending that has been going on for decades. The majority of the country opposes the bailouts that seems to be inevitable. Barring an attack on US soil and the collapse of Afghanistan fiscal responsibility will be one, if not the top issue in 2012. Governor Palin has repeatedly talked about the “entrepreneurial spirit” of the US economy, but how will she, as the candidate view government intervention? This dear reader is my question. This is the one area she has room to maneuver. Will she? -Bert, your Conservative Troubadour in C
