| Will he or won't he. Should he or shouldn't he. Is he conservative
enough or not... Fred Thompson has made quite a stir in recent weeks and is polling well. The left has been rather silent regarding him. I think they are still trying to figure him out. A possible Fred Thompson campaign is good news for conservatives but it also raises question as to the possibility of a Newt Gingrich campaign. With Thompson in the fray there won't be enough votes to go around. Romney has peaked at 10 percent and the McCain campaign ended two weeks before he announced he was running. Rudy is the front runner but Thompson could cut into his lead. Newt seems to be the odd man out but he's not all that enthused about the prospect to begin with. There is a distinct possibility Newt will remain behind the scenes if Thompson throw his hat into the ring. With Thompson in the Race Giuliani’s socially liberal policies will get deep scrutiny from the Christian right and Thompson the more socially Conservative will take away a good percentage of votes. However Rudy might get a pass if the two ran together. That would be interesting. -Bert |
