The new buzz word is pork. The word became famous last year when fiscal Conservatives, tired of Republican spending began making their feelings known. The Democrats, who seeing an opportunity to gain an issue without having to come up with one of their own hopped on it. Next thing we know Ms. Pelosi was promising to reign in spending.

Now, reckless spending is nothing new in Congress. Overspending by the GOP however is. Earmarks are a part of the process. The Republic and have taken it to a new level.

Hence their loss in November....

The issue of pork has not gone away. The president has called for a drastic reduction in earmarks and our Democratic friends have continued to claim they will do the same. However the pork laden Iraq spending bill has proven otherwise. Several staunch anti war Democrats changed their vote in return for earmarks directed to their districts. Government spending has become a big issue with voters and with spending at the level it has been the people will not allow the Democrats the same leeway the gave Republicans.

With the largest tax hike in history looming the left seems determined to send us into a recession. With an election around the corner this majority may end up in the minority fairly quickly.
