OBAMA IS STILL A
LIBERAL 01/08/2008
He is the candidate of change. A poet.
an author. He is understanding, and a listener. He has candor, and is the
next best thing since sliced bread. the underdog rising to overtake the
establishment. These are the clichés that make a good Lifetime Channel
movie.
Obama seems to have Republicans all over the place asking
the question "Should we be afraid of Barack Obama?". Firstly if you ask
the question you have answered it. Secondly you are forgetting the
stupidity factor: Americans are not stupid. When that curtain closes and
it's simply the voter and the voting machine, Barack Obama is just another
liberal Democrat carrying the same message, only now in a more attractive
container. Liberals biggest problem for years has been how to get their
message out, or more precisely how to not tell people what they really
stand for. Socialized medicine, bigger government, ultimately higher
taxes, liberal judges, and a forced defeat in Iraq.
So where is the
change?
Conservatives should be more concerned with who we put up
against the Democrats in November. A one Term Ultra Liberal Senator is not
going to match up well with a true Conservative with a strong security
platform. Taxes, immigration, abortion, National Security, and spending
are all issues we do well on when they are supported by a strong
candidate.
Take taxes for example. The economy may be headed
for a recession and yes the liberals have been telling us how bad the
Economy has been for the last 6 years. But the run of the mill half
interested American is aware that every recession has been cured with tax
cuts. it stimulates the economy. Now The Republicans do not have to run on
a tax cut platform but all the Democratic candidates, including Barack
Obama are in favor of letting the Bush tax cuts expire. How many people
are comfortable with them treating a recession with the largest tax hike
in history? Advantage Conservatives, not Obama.
Let's take one more
example. Immigration. John McCain whose campaign resembles a Rocky movie
(One of the good ones) has successfully broken the immigration debate into
two separate issues. Border security and amnesty. of course he has done
this to take the focus away from his dismal record on the issue but it
helps highlight the Democrats position on the issue which is just below
the level of abomination. Obama favors drivers licenses for illegals.
Hillary favors drivers licenses for illegals on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Republicans favor....securing the border. immigration has overtaken the
war in Iraq as the most pressing issue and once again The Republicans are
on the right side of the issue.
Barack Obama is a tough candidate
but he is nothing new and the only "change" is in the delivery (a welcome
change I admit) but he is still just another liberal Democrat.
