CHANGE AND THE SMELL OF LIBERAL CONFUSION 7/16/2008 Oh dear oh dear. I’d hate to begin this update with an "I told you so" and I won't bother as liberals seem to be less smart than a retarded duck. For months Republicans, Independents, and those capable of independent thought kept asking what Senator Barack ..... Obama meant by "Change". Those in the know., The Executive Coffee House, art loving, all knowing liberals who seem to know exactly what Barack Obama meant by what he most recently said simply roll there eyes in exasperation and point to the official Obama website. It's all there apparently. Well apparently it wasn't because the Executive coffee house Liberals feel they were completely blindsided by Barack Obama's sudden lurch to the right. Now Obama didn't invent anything here. Playing to your base in the primary and then moving to the center for the General is a traditional strategy.Obama however moved right with the grace of a baby giraffe in in stilettos. So what happened? Well nothing really if you understood what Obama was trying to do, and successfully did. He used the young and impressionable to start a movement. It was a movement born on nothing more than platitudes but a movement none the less.Young people tend to be idealistic. Young liberals tend to be idealistic to a militant bent. When the realize they cannot change the world by not bathing, smoking pot and reading the Huffington Post they become bitter liberals but equally militant. Obama seized on the idealistic element with all his change rhetoric. The kids were impressed. Slowly his speeches became sermons and before long each appearance was equally to the Sermon on the mount. The liberals swooned, and the Conservatives scratched their heads. However asking questions disturbed their feeling of utopia so we just sat by and waited for the other sandal to drop. And it did just after Obama decided to embrace the Presidents Faith Based initiatives and it's been downhill ever since. Here is a list courtesy of Dick Morris... • After vowing to eschew private fundraising and take public financing, he has now refused public money. • Once he threatened to filibuster a bill to protect telephone companies from liability for their cooperation with national security wiretaps; now he has voted for the legislation. • Turning his back on a lifetime of support for gun control, he now recognizes a Second Amendment right to bear arms in the wake of the Supreme Court decision. • Formerly, he told the Israeli lobby that he favored an undivided Jerusalem. Now he says he didn't mean it. • From a 100 percent pro-choice position, he now has migrated to expressing doubts about allowing partial-birth abortions. • For the first time, he now speaks highly of using church-based institutions to deliver public services to the poor. • Having based his entire campaign on withdrawal from Iraq, he now pledges to consult with the military first. • During the primary, he backed merit pay for teachers -- but before the union a few weeks ago, he opposed it. • After specifically saying in the primaries that he disagreed with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-N.Y.) proposal to impose Social Security taxes on income over $200,000 and wanted to tax all income, he has now adopted the Clinton position. So what we have is half the liberals looking as if they just saw Ted Kennedy pass up a free martini and the other half are pretending that none of this happened, there will be no negative effects from what has not just happened, and Obama will win all 57 states in the Union.
